Well another year has come today
Time once again puts its mark on me
No balloons or cards with cartoons
No cake and ice cream do i care to see

Birthdays are bittersweet reminders now
That the count down has begun
Not pony rides nor games of run and hide
To tell the truth they just ain't no fun

I can close my eyes and remember
children laughing so much glee
A sixteenth summer  seems like yesterday
But the time has slipped up on me

I can't say I've spent the years wisely
They are all a bit of a blur
Chasing dreams and consuming things
They will be what they were

I hope the future finds me
Limping along a better path
That I make better decisions and live a little
Instead of lamenting  times bitter wrath
