Scattered Memories ~ RER

Scattered Leavings from a love affair
Litter my restless mind
Echoes of arguments
Long over withstood the time

The cuts and the bruises
Eventually go away
But the marks left by vicious words
Somehow they manage to stay

Memories are the poison
And why I'm drinking you gone
Scattered leavings from our love affair
What felt so right was so wrong

Memories they can kill you
If you  don't make them die
Scattered leavings from our love affair
Are the tears that I cry

There's no salve like whiskey
To soothe the wounded mind
You pray it makes it better
But it just prolongs the time

For once the bottles empty
And the high has gone away
Scattered Leavings from our love affair
scars that never fade

There to remind you
Stay far away from dangerous things
Like Scattered leavings from a love affair
And the scattered dreams of yesterday
