"Castaway Star" by RER
She's afraid to look in the mirror
She never looks anyone in their eye
Her self worth not worth much tonight
Too old… too tired ….too high
The fleeting thrills of a life hard lived
Faded like a warm winter snow
No one will share her bed this night
No one for her heart to know
A daughter to a broken home
A lady to the drunk at the bar
An empty shell of her once young self
A used up Cast Away Star
She sees apparitions of a different life
One made of happier days
In her visions she's become a good mans wife
Validated in so many ways
In a grand white house with the white picket fence
She imagines her children at play
She dreams of the security
Sees her future in a warm happy way
But.. she's is a daughter to a broken home
A lady to the drunk at the bar
An empty shell of her once young self
A used up Cast Away Star
The fancies she allows herself to dream
Leave like the men in her life
Taking with them much of her dignity
Leaving but pain and strife
Wondering about how her life was lived
How the edge on her beauty decayed
How booze and pills and second hand thrills
Had frittered her whole life away
And now she's still a daughter to a broken home
A lady to the drunk at the bar
An empty shell of her once young self
A used up Cast Away Star
